Los Angeles Experiences Unprecedented Heat Just One Week Following Severe Winter Weather.
In the wake of torrential rains that caused flooding across parts of the city, the City of Angels is now seeing abnormally hot temperatures for late February.
Record-Shattering Temperatures
During the day Friday, the temperature reached 33 degrees Celsius (91 Fahrenheit) in downtown Los Angeles, according to weather officials. This exceeds the previous daily record for February 27th, which was eighty-eight degrees Fahrenheit and was recorded in 2025.
"Exceptionally warm weather" were noted on forecast charts for the region.
Safety Warnings
Forecasters stated that Friday's weather posed an "increased danger for heat illness" for vulnerable populations. Their advice included:
- Staying hydrated.
- Reducing outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.
- Not leaving children or pets unattended in a hot car.
A Sharp Shift
This dramatic increase in mercury follows closely after a massive winter storm that battered the area recently. That storm delivered heavy snow, strong winds, and thunderstorms to the mountains, triggering evacuation orders for countless residents.

Forecast Ahead
The outlook suggests cooler conditions will arrive. Readings were predicted to drop to around sixty-one degrees Fahrenheit in central Los Angeles by Friday night.
Several cities that hit ninety degrees included Long Beach, Burbank, and Woodland Hills. Meanwhile, Oxnard, Westwood, Camarillo, and Santa Maria were expected to experience the high eighties.
For the weekend, downtown LA can expect weather in the 80s, with mid-70s temperatures on tap for the following week.
