On the eve of his half-decade plus one year in charge, Mikel Arteta has admitted that his future at Arsenal is directly connected to winning major honors.

A Look Back: Six Years in Charge

The Spanish coach assumed control on the 20th of December in 2019 and managed to steer the team to an FA Cup triumph a short time later. However, that early success remains his sole significant piece of silverware since succeeding Unai Emery.

“I can,” the manager said in response to a query about his future past 2027. “Yet it's about today. And numerous factors have to happen in the next few months as well to earn the right.”

He will mark the landmark with a game facing Everton, the very same club Arsenal faced immediately following his hiring was confirmed.

The Current Landscape

Squad Setbacks

The squad approaches the Everton match coping with yet another injury. Defender Ben White has been declared unavailable with a strain that is expected to keep him out for a few weeks.

Evolved Priorities

Regardless of the fitness woes and the high-stakes environment, Arteta is confident the club's “objectives and communication” are profoundly distinct from when he initially took over.

He pointed to the record-breaking achievements as a sign they are nearing their goal. “Examine the performances, all the historical marks we surpassed... We still haven't been able to do that [win trophies]. But that shows the level we are at.”

Arteta concluded, “That is a level that the Premier League has not seen before in the past. And our ambition is to achieve even higher goals. And if we do that, I think we are on the proper course to winning.”
