The UK is ready to advance with using the total value of frozen Russia's holdings to support the Ukrainian war effort, PM Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany asserted that this joint measure would heighten pressure on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and persuade the Russian Federation to participate in talks.

They clarified that the initiative would be executed in strong partnership with the America.

United Kingdom restrictions have blocked more than £25bn of Russian resources since Moscow initiated its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. Yet, until now, resources sent to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had exclusively been taken from profits and interest earned on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and Germany were aligned in their desire to advance efforts toward using the total worth of the seized Russian sovereign assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional sanctions over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This declaration comes after European Union leaders met in Copenhagen last week to consider employing immobilized Russian holdings for a 140-billion-euro financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, President Donald Trump called on G7 allies to confiscate or employ seized Russian assets, according to media sources.

The value of frozen Russian holdings in the EU is estimated to be almost €211bn.

Moscow carried out large-scale bombardments all over the Ukrainian territory on recently, leading to electricity outages in many areas of the capital city, the city, and multiple additional areas.

Several persons were fatally injured and no fewer than 20 people were injured in the attack, the Ukrainian government reported.

In a update on social media following the attack, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack focused on non-military and power facilities.

"What is required is not just talk but decisive action - from the America, the European Union, and the Group of Seven - in providing air defence systems and enforcing penalties," he emphasized.

"All penalty impositions undermines Russia's war machine," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Additionally that day, Zelensky informed media outlets he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the Purl programme, under which Nato countries acquire weapons from the US to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While applauding the UK's consistent assistance for Kyiv, he said it should demonstrate clearly that it would take part in the program, as well as apply further measures on the Russian Federation.
