Three Athletes Shortlisted for Young Athlete of the Year Prize

English soccer star Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Sports Star of the Year award.
The three finalists have been recognised for their outstanding achievements over the last year.
Agyemang helped the Lionesses claim victory in Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the first time, and Perrin surged to prominence with a record-breaking innings.
Littler won the award in 2024 after his breakthrough year.
The three contenders were revealed during a live broadcast on a popular morning radio program.
The 2025 recipient will be announced during a live broadcast on the prestigious sports ceremony show on Thursday, 18 December.
The ceremony will be aired from seven in the evening GMT.
Michelle Agyemang
Age: 19 Sport: Football
Just three months after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to winning the Euros.
She entered the fray to score vital last-gasp goals in both the knockout stage games.
These match-saving moments led to her being named the tournament's top young talent.
Later in the year, she was awarded the prestigious Golden Girl honour for the top young European talent.
She was also in contention for the Kopa Trophy for the global standout among U21 women.
Agyemang, who has been at Brighton in a temporary move from Arsenal, ruptured her anterior cruciate ligament in October.
"Being nominated for this award is an honour," said Agyemang. "I thank God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my loved ones, mentors, colleagues and supporters."
Luke Littler
Age: 18 Sport: Darts
Littler's 2025 began in spectacular fashion as - at just 17 years old - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.
He secured a comprehensive triumph over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
His later win at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.
And he wasn't finished there - his triumph in November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he climbed to world number one for the first time.
At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, breaking the previous record.
"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a massive accolade," stated Littler. "Last year's win was a highlight for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."
Perrin's Profile
Age: 19 Sport: Cricket
Perrin is one of English cricket's most exciting young talents and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.
Her brilliant 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.
It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.
Perrin ended up as runner-up in the season's run tally and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.
"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Star award," expressed Perrin. "This is phenomenal. I hope it encourages more young females to get into cricket."
